The School I'm In And The BEST SCHOOL EVER FTW!!!

The New Forest Small School

1 Southampton Road, Lyndhurst, Hampshire SO43 7BU – 023 8028 4415

The New Forest Small School is a small, caring, alternative, independent school in the New Forest. The school caters for children from age 2 to 16 and offers a real alternative to parents concerned about the large classes, academic pressures, teaching-to-the-test, inflexible curriculum, bullying and pressure to conform faced by children in most traditional education settings. There is a great family atmosphere in the school and children of all ages are encouraged to mix as much as possible during their 'free choice' periods, it is wonderful to watch the primary children interacting so kindly with the kindergarten children and to see how much the little ones look up to them. The school follows the European model in the sense that children are in Kindergarten from the ages of 2 till 7 before moving up to the primary class. The children are allowed plenty of time to play - far more than a traditional school - as the staff recognise the huge importance of play for the wellbeing and social and physical development of children, the children play outside and enjoy a daily walk to the beautiful park in Lyndhurst during their lunch break. The school has been fundraising for a number of years to raise the money to find a new, permanent site in the New Forest so they can expand and invest in more equipment and so all the school can be on one site (the newer senior school is on a separate site to the rest of the school) The school has now secured enough funding and has been in talks with the local planning department about a number of potential sites. The standard of education is very high, there are several teachers covering all subjects in the senior school, students are very much encouraged to question, explore and discuss everything - globalisation, politics, the environment, religion etc. but always to treat people's views, faiths and cultures with respect. My child is thriving at the New Forest Small School, what Alison and Nick and all the staff and parents are doing there is truly unique and I feel so lucky to be able to send my child there as many people have no alternative to the traditional system.

Noadswood School

North Rd, Southampton, Dibden Purlieu, Hampshire SO45 4ZF – 023 8084 0025

A good school, albeit with a weak Science department. The Mathematics department excels, to the point that it physically could not become a specialist Maths college: one of the criteria is that it can improve in their subject by a specific amount each year, which isn't possible: Noadswood is already at the top of the Maths leagues.

I strongly recommend Southampton Language College. I had to prepare my IELTS exam. I took English lessons for two months and a half and I succeeded my IELTS exam so as to enter my future school. Laurent from Paris !!!

First of all I would like to thank you all the SLC`s staff. They are really friendly and helpful. It was an incredible time studying there (3 months), I could review the grammar and hone my English. That is why I can say that my objective was accomplished.

1 year ago my daughter was so far behind in her maths and english i thought i needed a miracle after help at her school was turned down i didnt no where to turn until i found kip on the internet. I didnt no what to expect so was very surprised to find my daughter loved it and for a very shy person that was amazing i knew then i had done the right thing. she has been attended kip since july 2012 and it has been the best thing i ever did she has gone from a very unsure, and shy person to someone who cant wait till her next lesson she has improved so much way above my expectations and will continue to go here for a very long time. She really could not have done it without all the help and support they offered.

My son had been struggling at school with Numeracy for some time. Jan built his confidence and enabled him to fell more confident when tackling any numeracy problem. He improved so much, he ended up teaching other kids in his class as he had been taught things they hadn't. He has moved up a set and continues to excel thanks to Jan's hard work and patience. A caring and patient environment for a child to learn in, 10/10 Jan well done!!!
