Holiday Inn Express Southampton - West

Adanac Park, Redbridge Lane, Nursling, Southampton SO16 0YP, UK – 0871 902 1550

Very comfortable night sleep. Even in the heat. They provided a fan. The only slight issue I had, is I'm used to larger beds than a double, and this hotel had a double. Other than that was a good sleep. Breakfast was really good buffet to help yourself. I would stay again.

Clean and cozy hotel. Rooms are spacious and very clean, staff are also friendly. Only let down is outside the room Windows there are so many spiderwebs and spiders, couldn't leave window open in a hot sunny day. Also passage windows had spiderwebs as well, but luckily there was no spiders inside the room. Breakfast buffet was very good and well served

Hotel Terravina

Really cross section from walkers with dogs cyclists families and holiday makers. Everyone made to feel at ease and welcome. Good new addition of a deli and craft rooms. Sit in the garden on the verandah or inside whatever suits you best.

Fabulous. The best coffee in the area. Beautiful garden, situated on outskirts of New Forest. Food is great. Seating inside is spacious & ncely decorated. Rooms are cool, clean & very well fitted, comfy beds & lovely bathrooms, breakfast are a must & served all day.

The Happy Cheese

189 Lyndhurst Rd, Ashurst, Southampton SO40 7AR, UK – 023 8029 3929

It was a beautiful hot day & on our way to the New Forest we popped in there for lunch. Plenty of free parking. Plenty of outside seating, some shaded, some with parasols. The menu is extensive including a carvery on a Sunday. The staff have "Happy staff" logos on their t-shirts & they all appeared to be friendly. The food that we ordered was delicious & good portion size. There appeared to be many high chairs for your little ones. Disabled & baby changing facilities on the ground floor. A small playground to keep children happy until their food arrives. Will definitely come back again

Good food in a very ordinary pub. However good parking and outside seating. My wife would travel across Hampshire for the liver and bacon.

The King Rufus

Eling Hill, Totton, Eling, Southampton SO40 9HE, UK – 023 8055 6026

A beautifully decorated character pub with attractive secluded gardens. The walls are adorned with the owner artists colourful paintings. One of the main specialities on the menu are its own freshly made stone baked pizzas. A lovely way to spend a romantic evening with the special person in your life!!

What a charming and welcoming place! It's got a relaxing and homely atmosphere with pastel painted wood and a country house type garden. Loved it and will definitely be back.

The Ship Inn

41 Old Redbridge Rd, Southampton SO15 0NN, UK – 023 8086 2186

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic!!! The pub alone is fab, food is fab and good value for money. The staff are amazing. There's a great quiz night too. Absolutely amazing marquee out the back for hire for weddings and other functions. Zoe the landlady is totally fabulous and cannot do enough for you. We had our wedding reception here and the customer service is second to none! I can't stop raving to everyone how great the ship is. If you're thinking of having a wedding reception here, don't think twice, you will have THE BEST day ever. Every single one of the staff are great too, I've never been to a pub where every member of staff are so good, there's usually always one that lets it down but not here!! Keep up the good work, you all deserve medals xx

Amazing place, great food and friendly staff

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

263 Woodlands Rd, Woodlands, Southampton SO40 7GJ, UK – 023 8029 3169

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!

Campsites and Caravan Parks

Greenpastures Farm

Three Gates, Whitemoor Ln, Ower, Romsey SO51 6AJ, UK – 023 8081 4444

Lovely big site. Very friendly lovely owner and reception staff and 'Beanie' all helpful and friendly. Great space for children to play and be supervised at same time.

A lovely site with plenty of space. Facilities are smart and clean. Only negative is the constant intrusive drone of the nearby motorway.

Ashurst Campsite

Campsite Lyndhurst Road, Ashurst SO40 7AR, UK – 023 8029 2097

A nice site with easy access to the forest. You are basically in the forest, though there is a choice of pitches near/under trees and out in the open. Facilities are good. The is however, no electricity available, so bring your own 🙂 The staff are super friendly, so take some time to say hello. They are very helpful. Site is fairly quite in the whole, but there is a trainline passing close by.

Excellent facilities, very clean. Staff are very friendly. Pitch where you like is a bonus. Nice environment and no dogs (Although someone brought their cat! Not joking)
