Walking, Hiking and Outdoor Shops

Homebase

Millbrook Rd W, Southampton SO15 0SD, UK – 0345 640 7095

Have shopped at Homebase store for years now but was very disappointed as my husband's disability means he is in a wheelchair. Ours has a flat tyre so we asked if we could borrow the stores but there one was broken and unavailable. Surely they should have more than one wheelchair. So we went round with our punctured tyre. The lift upstairs for disabled people was difficult for my husband to get out of . The door wouldn't open for him. I had gone up the stairs to meet him and had to get him out from the outside. This store needs to look at making life easier for disabled customers as well as the fabled.

Amazing help and service by assistant Dan - Thank you so much. There's no way I would have survived without him today - I think he needs a bonus. ๐Ÿ˜€

WalkingWorld.jpg
Another good one. Walkingworld has huge library of guides with a good selection of walks, of varying lengths and grades, pretty well anywhere in the UK. The walks come in an excellent format making them very easy to follow, with photographs to illustrate every important decision point and a proper Ordnance Survey map.

A modist annual subscription gives you unlimited access to all the walks. However you can Pay As Go by downloading indiviual walks.

Crucially you can also find walks France, Spain, Norway, Portugal and Australia!

Camping and Caravaning

Ashurst Campsite

Campsite Lyndhurst Road, Ashurst SO40 7AR, UK – 023 8029 2097

A nice site with easy access to the forest. You are basically in the forest, though there is a choice of pitches near/under trees and out in the open. Facilities are good. The is however, no electricity available, so bring your own ๐Ÿ™‚ The staff are super friendly, so take some time to say hello. They are very helpful. Site is fairly quite in the whole, but there is a trainline passing close by.

Excellent facilities, very clean. Staff are very friendly. Pitch where you like is a bonus. Nice environment and no dogs (Although someone brought their cat! Not joking)

Greenpastures Farm

Three Gates, Whitemoor Ln, Ower, Romsey SO51 6AJ, UK – 023 8081 4444

Lovely big site. Very friendly lovely owner and reception staff and 'Beanie' all helpful and friendly. Great space for children to play and be supervised at same time.

A lovely site with plenty of space. Facilities are smart and clean. Only negative is the constant intrusive drone of the nearby motorway.

Just enter your location and everything from dog friendly Bed and Breakfasts and Hotels to dog friendly walks and beaches come up.
